Health Care was highlighted on our City Visit to Jacksonville with tours and meetings at UF’s Proton Therapy Institute and Baptist Health South at Flagler Center, the first Hospital to go paperless in the Country. LEDC representatives had a special interest in meeting with Developers at Flagler and LandMar who both have major land holdings in Lakeland.
With regards to Higher Education, we met with the leadership team at The University of North Florida. Lakeland’s team also met with Jacksonville Electric Authority’s Management Team as they too, are a municipally owned utility. Former Lakeland resident & architect Ennis Davis presented a very interesting case study on how Lakeland could improve it’s downtown street life. Finally, we met with Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver regarding his reasoning for bringing the Jaguars to Jacksonville. AGENDA
