Highlights of LEDC’s City Visit to Nashville included meetings with Nashville Downtown Partnership, Developer Tour of the some of Nashville’s coolest neighborhoods including downtown, Gulch, Germantown, 12 South, & Wedgewood Houston. Entrepreneurship was a major focus on the trip which included visits to and testimonies from entrepreneurs at Fort Houston Maker Space, The Refinery, WELD, Deavor, The Skillery and Casa Azafran’s entrepreneur commercial kitchen. The session also included an urban redevelopment focus hearing the entrepreneur stories of Salemtown Board Company, Otis James Nashville and Emil Erwin.
The Higher Education portion of our trip was a day at Vanderbilt University where tours included One Hundred Oaks, Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital to LASIR (Laboratory for Systems Integrity and Reliability) and Economic and New Venture Developments at Vanderbilt. Other meetings included workforce and education meetings on Drive to 55, Tennessee’s Community Colleges, The Nashville Chamber, The Nashville Software School and a tour and songwriting session at Belmont University’s world famous recording studio, Ocean Way.
